Zoe really gets into teaching her boss a lesson- but Sophia is just LOVING it!She moans and sighs as the flogger lands! So Zoe is emboldened to take charge exactly the way that Sophia has always fantasised about!She starts by stealing Sophia's shoes- slave girls should be barefoot. And what else should slave girls be? Collared! Hywel's note: this is a great example of the sort of custom video we absolutely love to shoot. The script was just the right length (about one side of A4)telling us all the things that needed to happen and some great guidance on styling, tone, etc. but allowing plenty of room for the roles to breath andfor Sophia and Zoe to improvise, safe in the knowledge that they knew what the customer wanted in terms of feeling and activities. When customs go right,cast and crew feel empowered to give more to the performances than they might otherwise have done - which is why this turned into Sophia Smith's firstactual full-on caning (in Part Two). I hope Sophia won't mind me saying that she's not exactly a full-on pain masochist. This caning was about her limit for the degree of pain and CP play that shewanted to try. It was a privilege to be the people she was happy to film it with- and I guess there were several factors in there. Obviously, having a goodworking relationship with the crew (we've been working together for years) and with Zoe (who's an awesome top) but also with the script - the customer hadmade it quite clear that the spankings and bastinado could be light, could even be faked if we needed it to be. The important thing was the emotionalarc of the characters and how the spanking played into the movie. As a result, we all felt happy trying to deliver that with a good dramatic presentation,in this case deciding to keep rolling in a "oner", a rolling take with multiple cameras having made sure that Sophia was OK at each stage and after the firststroke of every punishment. I feel that's a good way to approach shooting more intense material. Put it in emotional context in the storyline, make sure cast and crew are comfortable andfeel safe, secure and supported- so they know that if it gets to be too much, everyone (from producer and on-screen top through to the customer) is going tothank them and appreciate that they tried, value the commitment to what they were able to shoot, and not make them feel bad for not being able to do it ifthat is what turns out to be the case. If someone contacted me asking for a proper stripes-on-the-bottom caning of Sophia Smith, I would have said no (and I'm sure she would have too). We got itbecause that was delivering more than the customer ordered, in a good and supportive environment on set and critically because THAT WASN'T THE POINT OF THE SHOOT.It made the film more powerful and sexier, but it wasn't the reason the customer wanted the film shot in the first place. It just delivered a stronger, bolder version of it.It's the same with more explicit nudity or stuff with toys, etc.. The performers are much more likely to be supportive of that if it seems like it is a naturalpart of the story than if the only thing the photographer or customer seems to care about is getting more gyno closeups, I think. At least it is in the collegiateand arty sort of way we try to work, anyway. If you want gyn closeups, book performers who are happy to do that, of course. Don't hassle performers who aren't. And one day if someone wants to experiment and see if they can push their own limits (not in the sense of content, but in the sense of trying something they'reinterested in but perhaps a bit apprehensive about) then they will be the ones they trust to try it with them.
